On the occasion of the new edition of Paris+ by Art Basel, Loevenbruck gallery is pleased to showcase the institutional program of the Parisian exhibitions scheduled during the fair, notably “Gilles Aillaud. Political Animal”, at the Centre Pompidou and “Doppelganger!” by the artists Jakob Lena Knebl & Ashley Hans Scheirl, at the Palais de Tokyo.

Highlighted on our booth, a patinated plaster sculpture, inlaid with metal, by Alina Szapocznikow, Tabu (1963), an historical work featured in most of the artist's retrospective exhibitions since 1975 and a painting on unstretched canvas by Michel Parmentier from his [red] period (18 février 1968 (February 18, 1968)). 

The triptych Lamantin et salades (Manatee and salads) (1974) by Gilles Aillaud, refers to his almost singular theme throughout much of the 1960s and 1970s, portraits of animals in zoo environments.

The painting Saint Sébastien aux fléchettes (Saint Sebastian with Darts) (1934) by Alfred Courmes, echoing the work part of the collection of the Centre Pompidou, Musée national d’art moderne and currently exhibited in the retrospective dedicated to the artist at Charleville-Mézières.

The booth will also feature new artworks, such as the latest painting by Philippe Mayaux, titled Les cendres de Prométhée (The Ashes of Prometheus), an acrylic, lava powder, and sand on canvas, a large textile artwork by the sculptor duo Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel, a stereolithographic resin sculpture, homage to Barbapapa, by Jakob Lena Knebl and a small painting by Robert Devriendt which, through its pictural perfection and tactical aspect, reveals his Flemish painterly roots.

Finally, the painting Shadow Economy (2016) by Ashley Hans Scheirl which was exhibited in their installation at the documenta 14.
